Miniderm is an over-the-counter medicine for the treatment of dry skin. Miniderm (20% glycerol) is available as a cream or lotion and may be an alternative for those who experience urea (5%) stinging. (A clinical study has shown that Miniderm was perceived to sting less than a cream containing urea and sodium chloride. (ref. Lodén et al. Acta Derm Venerol 2002; 82: 45-7.))
A novelty in the Miniderm family is Miniderm Duo - the first drug that consists of a combination of the two ingredients glycerol (20%) and urea (2%). The active ingredients work together to soften and strengthen the skin barrier and relieve itching that can occur in dry and atopic skin. Miniderm Duo has a well-tolerated formula that makes it suitable for the whole family, even the smallest.
Miniderm and Miniderm Duo are pharmaceutical skin care products and are therefore only sold in pharmacies. Read the package insert before use.
