Description
Mepiform is an effective self-adhesive dressing for scar treatment.
Local treatment with silicone has been shown to have positive effects on hypertrophic scars and keloids. It can take between 3 months and up to a year to improve an old scar, depending on the condition of the scar tissue. For best treatment, Mepiform should be worn around the clock. For inspection and washing of the skin, it is recommended that Mepiform be removed once a day, e.g. in connection with a shower or bath. For preventive treatment, Mepiform should be used for 2-6 months, depending on the condition of the scar.
Advantages of Mepiform
Reduces pain and tissue damage in connection with dressing changes
No additional fixing is needed
Mepiform is thin, flexible and discreet
Can be used in daily activities
Can be used multiple times
The same Mepiform can be used for several days
Mepiform is designed for the treatment of old and new hypertrophic scars, keloids and closed wounds, and can prevent the formation of hypertrophic scars and keloids.
Mepiform is a thin and flexible film consisting of a laminate (polyurethane and nonwoven) covered by soft silicone gel. Safetac is a patented technology characterized by a soft silicone surface layer. The soft silicone surface means that the dressing adheres gently to the skin and minimizes pain and tissue damage to the surrounding skin.
Dosage & use
- Open the package and take out the film. - Cut to the right size, the film should go about 1 cm outside the scar. - Make sure the skin is dry. If Mepiform is used together with ointment/cream, ensure that the film covers the smeared area and adheres to dry skin. - Remove the protective film and attach Mepiform over the scar or healed wound. Avoid stretching the film, especially over joints. It is optimal to wear Mepiform for 24 hours a day, but inspection and washing of the skin are recommended daily. However, Mepiform does not need to be rinsed off. Under normal conditions, Mepiform should be changed every 3 - 7 days or when the adhesion is no longer sufficient. Mepiform is waterproof and can therefore remain in the shower and bath. Should maceration or itching occur, rest the skin from treatment until symptoms disappear, then continue treatment by gradually increasing wear time. If the symptoms continue, discontinue and contact the attending physician. Sterility is guaranteed only if the package is unbroken and undamaged before opening. Do not re-sterilize.
